MAXWELL AFB, Ala. Civil Air Patrol has entered into a corporate partnership agreement with Air BP, one of the worlds largest suppliers of aviation fuels.
While terms of the agreement were undisclosed, Air BPs support of Civil Air Patrol will include funds to support CAP youth development programs. In return, Air BP will receive the right to use the CAP name and corporate supporter mark in the companys advertising, marketing and promotional programs during the year.
We want to thank Air BP for their support, said Maj. Gen. Richard Bowling, CAP national commander. Air BP believes strongly in the work being done by CAP volunteers across this country. And through Air BPs financial support of our cadet programs, they are helping in the development of our future leaders.
Civil Air Patrol builds strong citizens for the future by providing leadership training, technical education, scholarships and career education to young men and women, ages 12 to 21. From all socio-economic backgrounds, Civil Air Patrol cadets learn leadership, planning, and time management skills as well as the value of teamwork by working with fellow cadets toward common goals in a safe, structured, yet fun environment.
CAPs dual commitment to our homeland security and the development of our future aviators, both those who fly for the love of flying and the ones who invest their talents into civil service, is a very noble and just cause, said Mike Delk, President of Air BP Aviation Services. We are honored to be a component of CAP and appreciate the good work being done by their team.
Civil Air Patrol is most widely known for its search and rescue, disaster relief and humanitarian missions throughout the nation. Since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, CAP has also provided training and support for national homeland security initiatives. To perform these missions, CAP maintains a fleet of 550 single-engine aircraft the largest fleet of its kind in the world.
We are extremely pleased with Air BPs decision to become an official corporate partner, said Al Allenback, CAP executive director. Its a great partnership between two well-known brand names in aviation. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.
Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit organization with some 62,000 volunteer members nationwide, and is the official civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. CAP performs 95% of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited last year by the AFRCC with saving more than 140 lives. CAP volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counterdrug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Members take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the almost 27,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America for more than 60 years.
