Civil Air Patrol enters into
support agreement with Lear Chemical Research

MAXWELL AFB, Ala. — Civil Air Patrol has signed a  corporate support agreement with Lear Chemical Research Corporation and its  U.S.-based distributor, Pacific Corrosion Control. Lear Chemical manufactures  ACF-50 Anti-Corrosion Formula lubricants.

The two companies will provide Civil Air Patrol (CAP)  with financial and promotional support in 2005.  In return,  the companies will  receive the right to use the CAP name and corporate partner mark in their  advertising, marketing and promotional programs during the year.   Financial support from the companies will be used to fund CAP  cadet programs, which help build  strong citizens for the  future through leadership training, technical education, scholarships and  career education to young men and women, ages 12 to 21.  CAP  also offers orientation flights through its cadet program and activities that  include flying in glider as well as powered aircraft.

"We believe in the work being done by CAP, and believe  strongly in the promotion of safer flying through effective corrosion  control,” said Mark Pearson, general manager of Lear Chemical. “This  partnership is our way of giving something back to the industry.”

Pearson says Lear’s ACF-50 (Anti Corrosion Formula) is  currently being used on a number of commercial fleets, tens of thousands of  general aviation aircraft, aircraft operated by the FBI, DEA, US Boarder  Patrol, the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.

"While corrosion on metal is natural, we can save money on  aircraft maintenance by using products such as ACF-50 to extend the life of  our assets," said Al Allenback, executive director, Civil Air Patrol National  Headquarters.“The money we can save on maintenance can go to support our  future – our cadets.”

“The safety of our volunteers is a primary focus,” said  Maj. Gen. Dwight Wheless, CAP national commander. “From our pilots to our  young people, we stress this issue. We’re proud to have companies that promote  safety as corporate supporters.”

Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit organization with almost  60,000 members nationwide.  It performs 95% of continental  U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue  Coordination Center and saves, on the average, about 100 lives per year. CAP  volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counterdrug  missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Members take a  leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the almost 25,000  young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America for more than 60 years.
