2008 CAP Annual Conference

Cape Canaveral Tour

Wednesday, 6 August 2008

Fee:  $15

Depart Gaylord:  9:00 am

Return to Gaylord:  4:00 pm

Special Requirements:  Tour participants must be cadet age or older, and if not US citizens, must provide foreign visitor status to CAP at least thirty days prior to the event.

Tour includes:  An extended stop at the USAF Space and Missile Museum with an historical perspective beyond what the general public gets on a typical tour.  The museum is situated among some of the most historic launch complexes on the Cape: the site of America's first satellite launch as well as the launch site of our first man is space.  The tour will also visit Complex 14 where the Project Mercury orbital flights were launched, as well as Complex 34 where the tragic Apollo 1 fire took place, but also where the historic Apollo 7 mission was launched.  Depending on facility availability, it's possible that the tour may visit current active space flight processing areas on the Cape.

Tour Guide:  CAP Capt. Gary Dahlke, Deputy Director of Aerospace Education for Florida Wing and Spacecraft Systems Engineer on the Space Shuttle at Kennedy Space Center.
